MobiSNA is an innovative mobile video social networking application created at the Pennsylvania State University and funded by Alcatel-Lucent. Led by Professors Lee Giles and Luke Zhang at the College of Information Sciences and Technology, MobiSNA proposes the design and prototype of a system where users socially share video(s) either in real-time from their phones or online videos. Such sharing can be from services such as Google or YouTube, all through a mobile phone interface. This unique systems allows users to view a networked collage usually only seen in a TV studio, situation, or control room. Currently, the project focuses on the following: network-based video exploration, real-time video sharing, video blogging, video-based interest groups, system and database design, and social network document ranking. Potential applications are in health care, emergency management, and entertainment.
